Artist Statement
My practice focuses on a desire to raise the status of everyday objects from the profane to the sacred. Mandala, a digital animation on DVD, is an aid to worship inspired by my collection of celebrity detritus (Gordon Brown’s paperclip, Liza Minelli’s cigarette butt and more). My latest work, Prayer Map transforms the act of looking into a potential moment of enlightenment through the use of constructed repetition. I work with digital media to create alluring and decorative configurations from the mundane. I use repeat pattern to convey something of the vital energy and vibrancy of life.
